Second time in the Ring and it was a hot one!

We had our second show this weekend, under conditions I don't consider optimal for a young dog.  It was way to hot.  86 and humid by her second run, STD at 4 PM on Saturday.

Dare was awesome in Novice JWW in the cooler AM and got her NAJ on Saturday.  But by the STD run she was way to hot and I got her out way to early.  Dare still did good, but was distracted.  She stepped on the broad jump and kept looking for Rich when we got near the ring gating.  I made the mistake of not letting her see him before we went in the ring and I should have just let her go over to him, so she could have gotten it out of her system.  Lesson learned.

I moved her up to Open JWW for Sunday and she had an awesome jumpers run in the AM.  This time I kept the car running with the AC on to keep her cool till her STD run and we got to the ring right before she was ready to go in.  Dare seems to get a little distracted/excited by the dog running before her when we enter the ring, so I am going to have to work on that.  This time she was ready to go and was going a little to fast for herself and couldn't control herself on the teeter and feel off the side.  She was fine but I figured it would be a good idea to put her back on it and just take the whistle and leave the ring having a party.

I only entered her one day this weekend  and of course now they are calling for rain.  So let's see what that will bring :)

Dare's debut

I don't think I could have asked for anything more.  She was awesome, happy and focused.  She ran like a pro.  The first day I saw a little bit of stress but the second day there was very little.

The days were long so I am also happy that she was able to run her first run at 9:00 am in the morning and be able to run her second run at 4PM in the afternoon.
She did great

Dare A-frame

This is one of my favorite pictures of Dare doing agility.

Long time

I am really bad at this blog thing, but thought maybe I would try again now that Dare is 2 years old and is going to start her agility show career in 2 weeks.  I am really excited as her training is going really well.  She is a great dog and is a lot of fun to train, she has a different jumping style than Spy which I like and hopefully she will maintain it as time goes on.

I am curious to see how much focus she had in the ring and to see if she is easily distracted or if she can remain focused at her job.

We will know in 2 weeks.  Also since I changed from running contacts to stopped in June, it will be interesting to see if she will have a hard time keeping the criteria in the ring and what I will do to reinforce it as I haven't decided yet.
